RULES
5th “Rino Viani” International Clarinet Competition
Art.1. AGE LIMIT
The Competition is open to all soloist clarinettists, without distinction of nationality, who have reached 18 years old on March 16th 2012.
Art.2. REGISTRATION AND ADMISSION
2.1 Each applicant must return the enclosed registration form filled in, in all its parts, to the Competition Secretariat or send the registration form by registered mail, fax or e-mail within and no later than March 16th 2012 to the following address:

The applications must contain the following information, without which they will not be considered valid:
- surname, name, place of birth, nationality, address, telephone number;
- the indication of the program chosen by the candidate for the semi-final stage.
The following documents must be attached to the application:
- a self compiled birth and residency certificate;
- artistic curriculum in Italian or English;
- copy of the payment details of the € 50,00 used as a contribution towards the administrative costs. The payment of the application fee must be made by and no later than March 16th 2012.
The inscription fee is non refundable, with the only exception mentioned in point 8;
The Organizing Committee may refuse to admit candidates with incomplete application forms.
Art.3 JURY
The Jury is composed of members from the international music world.
The decisions of the Jury are unchallengeable and definitive. The Jury reserves the right to cut short an execution of a piece or to re-listen to it.

Art.4 TRIALS
4.1 The Competition will take place in Carpi between 24th and 25th March 2012.
4.2 The order of appearance of the candidates will be established by the Jury and it shall be published on the web site www.rinoviani.org . Applicants who have been admitted to the Competition must be present during the roll-call for the auditions. The audiences will take place at the A.Tonelli Istituto Musicale Pareggiato of Carpi.
4.3 The Jury will notify its decisions to the candidates at the end of each phase of the Competition.
4.4 During the Eliminatory stage and the Semi-final stage a pianist of the competition is available for all candidates. Nevertheless, each candidate can be accompanied by a pianist of his / her own choice, the costs of which being charged the candidate.
In the Final, candidates will be accompanied by the Camera Orchestra Giuseppe Verdi of Parma.
The Final trials may be open to the public.
4.5 The concert and prize giving ceremony (March 25th 2012), which will take place in Carpi at the Sala delle Vedute – Palazzo dei Pio, is obligatory for all the winners of the Competition. Not participating to the concert or to the prize giving ceremony, except for grave circumstances and reasons communicated to the Direction, the winner renounces the prize implicitly.
4.6 No lateness by the candidates is allowed unless in any case it permits the competition to proceeds correctly and is justified by reasons made known to the Direction. The Jury reserves the right to accept it or not.

Semi-final Stage:
C. Debussy - Prémière Rhapsodie
Piece of music chosen by the candidate
Final Stage:
G. Rossini – Introduzione, Tema e Variazioni per clarinetto e orchestra
Art.6 AWARDS
The winners will be awarded the following prizes:
1st Place € 2000,00
2nd Place € 1000,00
3rd Place € 750,00
Art.7 AUDIO AND VIDEO RECORDING
Associazione culturale Rino Viani reserve the right to film, record and broadcast, with no time limitations, the Final, owing no fee to the participants who, by submitting the application expressly accept to yield free of charge all rights of use of such recordings, including for commercial use.
Art.8 CANCELLATION OF THE COMPETITION
Should the Competition not take place due to force majeure, the applications will be annulled and the registration fee will be reimbursed.
